Biosketch
Dr Magalhaes is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Occupational Therapy at the Federal University of Sao Carlos, Brazil. Dr Magalhaes lived in Canada for 15 years (from 2001 to 2016) when she worked at the Western University of Ontario. Her research interests focus on emancipatory health practices, community engagement, and inclusion. Dr Magalhaes has secured national and international funding to support projects in investigating the living and working conditions of undocumented immigrant workers and refugees. In these projects Dr Magalhaes applies innovative visual methods, which afford interesting venues to convey the participants ‘narratives of precarious working conditions, marginalization and occupational injustice.
