Dear CQ colleagues and friends,
The organizing committee for the upcoming CQ@10 Symposium celebrating our 10thanniversary, in close consultation with CQ Director Brenda Gladstone, and in light of the rapidly changing global and local situation with the Coronavirus (including the announcement this morning of the cancellation of all face-to-face meetings and classes on all 3 UofT campuses, and the pullout of one of our keynote speakers), has taken the decision to postpone our event from the originally scheduled April 24-25 date to the fall, rather than attempting to move the entire event online. The new date selected is October 16 (Friday evening) and October 17 (Saturday, all day). Please consider this a “save the date” and put this new date in your calendars, pending further information.
For those of you who have already registered on Eventbrite, we will honour those registrations for the deferred date.
We are aware that this change, while necessary, will be an inconvenience, especially for those who have already made travel plans. We hope that for those of you travelling from out of town, the confirmation of an alternate fall date will allow you to take advantage of the no-charge rebooking offers that many airlines and other transportation providers (and hotels?) are now offering.
We very much look forward to meeting under more auspicious circumstances to fulsomely celebrate the remarkable work of the CQ collective and to engage in the vibrant and energizing intellectual discussions that so enliven us all when we gather around mutual interests. In the meantime, those of us with a critical bent have lots to reflect on what is happening all around us!
May you each and all be well and take good care of yourselves and each other in these challenging times.
warmly,
Blake Poland and the CQ@10 organizing committee (Denise Gastaldo, Heather Boon, Jessica Polzer, Daniel Grace, Pia Kontos, Janet Parsons, Joan Eakin)
